The short version

Tab Amp processes your tab's audio entirely on your device. Your audio is never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere. The only data the extension sends is anonymous feature-usage counts ("an install used the equalizer"), which cannot identify you.

Audio

To boost volume past 100% and apply the equalizer and effects, Tab Amp captures the audio of tabs you activate it on and re-plays it through your browser's audio engine, on your machine. This audio is processed in memory and immediately played back. It is never recorded, saved, analyzed, or sent over the network. Tab Amp cannot see or process audio in tabs you haven't activated it on.

What we collect

• A random install identifier — generated on your device (a random UUID). It is not derived from your identity, device, accounts, or browsing, and resets if you reinstall the extension.
• Feature-usage events — which feature was used (volume, equalizer, limiter, or an effect) and when, at most once per feature each time the popup is opened.

That's the complete list. Tab Amp does not collect browsing history, page content, URLs, audio, personal information, or anything else, and it does not use cookies or third-party analytics SDKs.

How it's used and stored

Usage events are sent to our own endpoint (toybox-labs.vercel.app) and stored in a database hosted in the United States (Vercel / Neon). We use them solely to understand which features are used so we can improve the extension. We do not sell or share this data, use it for advertising, or use it to determine creditworthiness or for any purpose unrelated to improving Tab Amp.

Your settings

Your volume, EQ, and effect settings are stored locally in your browser's extension storage and never leave your device.

Donations

The optional "buy me a coffee" link opens a checkout page operated by Stripe. Any information you enter there is handled by Stripe under Stripe's privacy policy; the extension itself never sees it.
